I was coached by Smarter Coaching for a race that was 4 days and over 48 miles—the main goal I had was to not get injured and to actually enjoy the marathon part of the race.  Coach Sam had me on a consistent training plan that was varied and also worked with my hectic schedule-I really appreciated the individual attention and customization to meet my needs, to prepare for the weather (hot in the middle of winter) and most of all to make me a better runner. I trained for 6 months and at the race I felt fabulous! I was so impressed with how my legs felt for all 4 days and had no injuries –my body and my mind were prepared for the race like never before! I’d definitely recommend using Smarter coaching!

I couldn't have asked for a better running coach than Sam - I'm a sponsored obstacle course racer, and really needed to focus on getting my run time down & overall technique tweaked. Sam met with me to discuss my goals/strengths/weakness, and within 3 months of working with him both my speed & stamina have improved. Sam has been fantastic! He has a heck of a resume, so I was a little intimidated to work with him, but Sam is very easy-going and respectful of athletes at every level of fitness. During our first meeting, we discussed expectations and schedules, and then I received a running schedule for the month via Google Calendars. My running plan was tailored to my level of running and fitness, and when my schedule changed or I needed a day off for a pain/strain, Sam was very quick to adjust the schedule accordingly. Communication has been great. We keep in touch everyday through email and/or text so he knows how I’m feeling about the runs. He sends me useful links and articles about stretching and hydration, based on whatever concerns I’m having. I meet with Sam 2-3 times per month, but that is mainly due to the fact that my schedule is pretty packed. If I wanted/needed to meet with him more often, Sam would be happy to do whatever I need to be successful in my training. By no definition was I ever a fast runner, but I have seen huge improvements in my running and my overall level of fitness during the time I have been working with Sam. I definitely recommend him!
